Maps & Atlases – Perch Patchwork (2011)

Where their first two releases succeed their 3rd falters. The “new” sound is missing what I’ve come to love about Maps & Atlases: wild math/prog rock . Perch Patchwork  attempts to be something that doesn’t fit, the album is a ready-made mold. It’s pop, subject to method, akin to the popular indie sound today, and  it’s not right.
