Collision (2009)

Collision is a decent enough documentary regarding the hyper-intellectual atheist Christopher Hitchens and an American religious leader Douglas Wilson. My only complaint deals with the editing and film cut techniques. In between debates and conversations comes rap sequences and overall playboy badass slow-mo schtick. The content is powerful enough to not need an MTV Cribs feel or expect Hitchens to pull out a gat, pop some clips off, and shout: “where’s your god now, bitches!?” Hitchens pulls this off verbally of course and with more flair. Unfortunate for Wilson is that his arguments become oft repeated and tired. He’s managed to confuse logic and reason. Debates don’t often convince people to change their minds, but the goal is to make us think and learn further. Collision accomplishes just that.
