The Woman Knight of Mirror Lake (2011)

Sometimes literal translations don’t exactly pan out. The Woman Knight of Mirror Lake fails to really capture American audiences by name alone. Yet the film does offer an interesting look at Chinese turmoil in 1911, gender rights, political struggles, and so forth. The action choreography doesn’t exactly enhance the message or make the film better. In comparison to action scenes typically found in Hong Kong movies The Woman Knight falls short. The historical tale and friendships make the story compelling; perhaps preferable would have been a more realistic and dramatic story.
